Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, said he is saddened by the death of Major-General Godwin Osagie Abbe (rtd), a former military governor of Rivers State. Rivers State governor from August 1990 to January 1992, Abbe died, but leaves behind a legacy of dedicated service.
Governor Fubara in a condolence message described Gen. Abbe as a leader that carries along Rivers State and also the nation at heart. Fubara said: “His contributions to the unity, peace and development o our nation remain legendary.”
A service and dedication legacy
In the meantime, Fubara condoled with the Abbe family, the people of Edo State and the Nigerian military over the loss of the late general who, he said, made an indelible impact on both the Niger Delta and Nigeria. He pleaded with the family to find comfort in Gen. Abbe spending his life in public service.
Fubara further said: “We mourn his painful exit; we pray for the eternal repose of his soul; we celebrate his unrivalled contribution to the progress of our nation and his legacy lives on as an embodiment of the yearnings of all progressive minded citizens for unity, development, peace and security.”
