FG Approves Telecom Tariff Hike to Boost Industry Investment

Bosun Tijani as the Minister of Communication Innovation Digital Economy has defended the Federal Government’s approval of a 50 percent increase in telecommunication services tariffs.

During his address at Ibadan’s inaugural Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria (RAIN) summit Tijani explained that the adjusted telecom tariff provides telecom firms funds to construct infrastructure while improving network reach.

The summit, themed “The Rain of Transformation is Upon Us: Security leaders gathered at the event titled “CEOs Arise” to explore Nigeria’s evolving technological future. Building infrastructure without innovation and entrepreneurial leadership becomes ineffective according to Tijani.

Countries face their most significant governmental challenge because of their people’s behaviors. Telecom initiative support comes from the administration via the recent rate increase which matches their objectives for a sustainable ICT industry according to Tijani.

Nigeria takes initiative through its work in AI and Robotics fields

Tijani celebrated the work of RAIN’s founder Dr. Olusola Ayoola who has successfully positioned Nigeria and especially Ibadan as a leading technological innovation center.

AI alongside robotics represents key elements for Nigeria’s economic shift because they need strategic AI applications to enhance national productivity and prosperity.

Such applications of artificial intelligence and robotics emerging from RAIN are essential national goals for countries in every generation, according to him.

During the event Chief Aderemi Oseni discussed technology’s ability to decrease youth unemployment while former First Bank CEO Dr. Adesola Adeduntan talked about how AI transforms business operations.
