  • The Nigerian Army now provides an economical post-service housing opportunity for its retiring members.
  • Nigeria offers military personnel a 3% interest-based loan program which serves as an additional financial benefit.

The Ration Cash Allowance for Nigerian Army troops received a boost from Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede who increased it to N3,000 per day from N1,500.

The increased allowance will activate at the end of March for soldiers as part of continuous enhancement initiatives regarding troop welfare.

Improved welfare and housing for troops

During his visit to the 9th Brigade Parade Ground in Ikeja, Lagos for military project inspections, Oluyede showed his disappointment because troops received N1,500 a day for their meals. During his speech he vowed to better troopers’ welfare and residential standards and monetary advantages.

To solve the accommodation needs of retiring soldiers the Nigerian Army launched a housing initiative. Through this program the organization will provide two- and three-bedroom homes starting at N8 million.

Appearing in December were the initial residential projects located in Abuja.

Additional support for soldiers

Through his low-interest loan scheme COAS gave soldiers access to loans at 3% rate which stands much lower than the average commercial bank rates exceeding 25%. Has asked his personnel to use funds appropriately while assuring them that additional money will enter the loan scheme.

Oluyede announced a solution to tackle uniform shortages when he stated that 100,000 kits will be supplied monthly to fulfill the needs of every servicemember. Smaller division units have received their allocation during the initial stage and the 82nd Division belongs to the upcoming distribution segment.

Troops received reassurance from Oluyede that their well-being stands as a priority, and they should stay dedicated as personnel. Finally, he stated that the military organization maintains its commitment to enhance military feeding along with improved housing facilities and financing programs and field equipment distribution.
