Plans to announce successor
Governor Seyi Makinde stated his plans to name his successor during the 11th Omituntun Ramadan Lecture held at the Government House Arcade in Ibadan on Monday.
Yunus Teliat delivered his presentation “Benefits of Being a Good Neighbour: An Islamic Perspective” as the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomoland at the lecture.
By speaking in Yoruba Makinde showed appreciation to Muslim leaders for their backing against asking them to maintain their prayers for his leadership.
He addressed socialite Abbas Oloko during his speech while humorously suggesting that Oloko maintain his billboard in Isale Alfa since it would soon display the image of the politician he favors for succession.

Makinde reaffirms political influence
Makinde successfully won a second term as governor and now cannot seek another political position yet continues to choose his preferred successor for the PDP.
The Oyo State executive received a public service reform report during October 2024 and Makinde declared his intention to select who would become governor next.
The individuals aiming to become governor of Oyo State must wait because my governorship duration extends until May 29, 2027. Makinde stated that he would decide together with PDP members who should assume the next governorship role.
He further said people of Oyo State will make the final determination yet I will play some role because PDP members should consider me their primary stakeholder for running the party structure.
Muslims across Oyo State should use Ramadan as an opportunity to boost peaceful coexistence despite their religious differences according to Makinde.
