The African Democratic Congress, ADC, says removing President Bola Tinubu from office in 2027 is the only way to reclaim Nigeria from what it described as political hijack.

Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesperson for the party, made the remarks on Friday during Politics Today, a Channels Television programme. He said the country cannot experience meaningful change while Tinubu remains in power.

Abdullahi said the ADC is not ambiguous about its objective ahead of the next general election, adding that the party believes the current administration has blocked any chance of national recovery.

According to him, Nigeria has reached a point where leadership change is no longer optional but necessary.

Strong criticism of governance style

The ADC spokesperson also criticised the conduct of people within the administration, accusing them of governing with what he called the language of banditry.

Abdullahi argued that power is being exercised without restraint or accountability, warning that such behaviour weakens public trust in democratic institutions.

He said the idea that power can be seized, held, and protected without consequences reflects a dangerous attitude that undermines the rule of law.
