Suspected kidnappers have attacked Nuru Suraj Estate in the Millennium City area of Kaduna metropolis, abducting about six residents in an early-morning raid that has renewed concerns about security in the growing residential community.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, October 27, 2026, when the assailants reportedly entered the estate through its second gate and carried out the abductions.
A resident, Maman Hamid, whose house is close to the homes of the victims, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the attackers gained access to the estate before seizing the residents.
Military Pursuit Leads to Some Rescues
According to the report, military personnel pursued the suspected kidnappers after the attack, resulting in the rescue of some of the victims.
However, the assailants reportedly escaped, while the exact number of people rescued and the whereabouts of those still missing remained unclear at the time the report was filed.
The incident has heightened anxiety among residents, who are concerned about the ability of criminal groups to enter residential estates and abduct people despite existing security arrangements.
The latest attack also raises questions about the effectiveness of access controls and surveillance systems in residential communities around Kaduna metropolis.
Millennium City Faces Renewed Security Concerns
Millennium City, a developing residential area on the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis, has experienced several kidnapping incidents in recent years.
Residents have repeatedly raised concerns about attacks targeting homes and residential estates, prompting calls for stronger security measures to protect families and communities.
The latest incident has reinforced demands for more frequent security patrols, improved surveillance and faster responses to distress calls.
Residents are also seeking tighter monitoring of estate entrances and access routes that suspected criminals could exploit to enter residential areas and escape after carrying out attacks.
Family Abducted Earlier in October Was Rescued
The latest attack comes weeks after another kidnapping incident in Millennium City.
On October 6, 2026, suspected kidnappers reportedly abducted Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their infant daughter, Fatima, from Alrahus Estate in the same area. The family was later rescued.
The incident drew attention to the vulnerability of residents, including families with young children, to kidnapping attacks within residential communities.
The rescue offered some relief, but the latest attack suggests that concerns about the safety of residents in the area remain unresolved.
Police Arrest Suspects and Informants
On October 12, 2026, police authorities reportedly announced the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers and four suspected informants during operations around Millennium City and Maraban Rido.
The operations also led to the recovery of AK-47 rifles, according to the report.
The arrests were part of security efforts targeting suspected criminal networks operating in and around the affected communities.
Despite these operations, the latest abductions have renewed calls for security agencies and estate managers to strengthen preventive measures and improve coordination to protect residents.
Residents are urging authorities to reinforce security at estate gates, improve monitoring of access routes and ensure that suspicious movements are reported and investigated promptly.
