The Inauguration of the Export of 11 Containers of Agro Commodities; Sesame Seeds, Cassia Tora, and Mica to China. This is done through the Nigerian Exporters Hub (NEXHUB) by AgriBusiness Group of Lagos State.

Delivering his speech at the 2024 Nigerian Exporters Hub Export Trade Conference in Ikeja, Lagos, Governor Sanwo Olu spoke. He was represented by Titilayo Adeshina, Director of Commerce, Lagos State Ministry of Commerce.
Moreover, he reassured his administration’s support for private enterprises. He also emphasized boosting Nigeria’s non-oil export sector.

With respect to agricultural products, Sanwo-Olu identified the economic potential to create jobs and generate increased earnings from exports. Additionally, he highlighted the need for local value addition.

‘So, if we can process our agricultural products locally, we create more jobs,’ Sanwo-Olu said. ‘We can, of course, increase our export earnings. Consequently, our economic competitiveness is also increasing.’

Moreover, NEXHUB was commended by him for playing a key role in promoting non-oil exports. It also provides Nigerian businesses access to international markets, particularly China.

How to strengthen Nigeria’s economic competitiveness

Furthermore, the initiative is organized in collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture. It seeks to promote international trade and enhance Nigeria-China bilateral relations.

NEXHUB, founded off the back of the Nigerian Export Trade House in China, aims to support agricultural and solid mineral exports. This is considered a tool to diversify Nigeria’s economy away from oil.

Additionally, NEXHUB Chairman Victor Ayemere corroborated on the verge of simplifying the export process for Nigerians. He aims to ensure every household enjoys the foreign exchange gains.
Ayemere said, ‘We have to join hands to do something about Nigeria’s economy.’ He added, ‘We should not leave the burden on government alone.’

Moreover, NEXHUB offers training programs and practical assignments to budding exporters. These efforts help them tap into the opportunities created by the federal government, he added.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the event symbolizes Nigeria’s readiness to engage the global market. This is demonstrated by revealing the containers of export.
Additionally, he urged NEXHUB to maintain its innovation, expansion, and exploration of new export markets.
Furthermore, he urged other Nigerian businesses to follow NEXHUB’s model of bolstering the country’s non-oil exports.

According to The Punch, through NEXHUB, Nigerian agricultural products will be better positioned to make their mark globally.
Consequently, this will help build a more resilient, diversified national economy.
