Nigeria’s ‘rescue mission’ to tackle country’s problems, says President Bola Tinubu as he tells newly appointed ministers to hit the ground running.
In Abuja, Tinubu, speaking as he swore in seven new ministers, stressed the importance of service and said the government would focus on economic recovery.
The call to serve and revive economy
The country is on recovery road, but the difficult times like high cost of living subsist – Tinubu. But he drew attention to having reduced debt servicing from 97pc to 65pc of revenue and put in place the new minimum wage.
As such, the fundamental pinnacle of this human endeavour is service, and therefore you are called to serve, he said in reference to the work that these ministers have been divinely charged with achieving.
Furthermore others are Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour & Employment, and Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, Minister of State Foreign affairs.
Ministers embrace the challenge
Speaking at the occasion, Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu thanked the president for appointing her and stated that she will work on advancing Nigerian foreign policy.
Also on her part, she emphasized that the solution is to leverage the skills and capital of the young Nigerians and diaspora to enforce service delivery and develop strategic alternatives.
According The Punch, Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of trade and investment, said there is a need to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to draw investments and bolster domestic businesses.
