Nigeria’s Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has said the military has no excuse for failing to secure the nation under the current administration.
Abubakar noted that President Bola Tinubu had provided the military with the needed equipment and resources to deliver on its constitutional mandates.
With the N3.2tn earmarked for defense and security in the 2024 budget, observers say the security agencies have no justification not to deliver on their mandates.
Military Must Sustain The Momentum
Abubakar urged the troops to sustain the onslaught against criminal elements in the country to enjoy the support of the citizens.
In addition, he said the military must give the citizens the confidence they require to go about their businesses without fear.
“We have no excuse not to deliver on our mandate, as the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government has provided the wherewithal for us to succeed,” Abubakar said in a statement on Sunday by the service’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet.
Tribute to Fallen Heroes
Abubakar also called on all Nigerians to continue to support the military and pray for fallen heroes.
He said the nation can never repay the fallen heroes, who sacrificed their lives for the peace and stability of the country.
He added that the best way to honor them is to sustain the joint air, ground, and maritime strikes against terrorists, insurgents, economic saboteurs, and other non-state actors in the country.
“The CAS also called on all Nigerians to continue to offer gratitude, goodwill, solidarity, and unrelenting prayers to the fallen heroes and their families. In doing so, according to the CAS, the entire nation will not only be according to these great patriots the honor and credit they truly deserve but also reassure those still in service that the country would never forget their sacrifices nor forsake them in their hours of need,” the statement read.
Furthermore, Abubakar expressed optimism that the military would overcome the security challenges facing the nation and restore its peaceful past.
He said the military was committed to working with other security agencies and stakeholders to ensure the safety and well-being of all Nigerians.
He appealed to the public to cooperate with the security forces and provide useful information that could aid their operations.
Finally, he also thanked the media for their positive coverage of the military’s activities and urged them to continue to uphold the ethics and standards of their profession.
